William

William, born October 2010, is 10 year old boy with a joyful spirit and bright smile!  He has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. William does not have an adoption file currently, but we have been given permission to advocate for his adoption.  His Welfare Center will create an adoption file if an adoptive family steps forward.

William receives therapy 4 times per week with therapy goals including improved head and shoulder control/movement as well as strengthening upper limbs.  He has started exploring various communication methods in physical therapy to help his ability to express his thoughts, wants and feelings.

William has low muscle tone which affects his gross and fine motor skills.  He enjoys interacting and playing with toys but does have trouble holding, grasping and releasing.  He loves being propelled by his carer in his wheelchair which allows him to explore his home and community.  He practices standing in a standing frame each day. William does need assistance with wheelchair transfers.

Although he is non-verbal, William understands instructions and questions asked of him and he is able to express his needs through non-verbal gestures.  He does try to speak with sounds and words, but his language is limited and sporadic.  He mostly uses his arms and facial expressions to communicate.

William attends education classes within the ICC Project five days per week.  He enjoys learning and spending time in the classroom.  He particularly enjoys computer class where he is learning how to use the mouse and touch pad.  Playing simple games on the computer brings a smile to his face!

William enjoys going for walks outside, spending one-to-one time with carers who either sit with him or play with him.  He loves listening to stories, joining his friends in play and music.

William is a handsome, fun and joyful boy!  He has a great sense of humor and enjoys playing little jokes and laughing.  He has a big, bright smile that lights up his entire face!!  William is known and well loved within his ICC project, and we hope that he will know the love of an adoptive family!

Matilda

Matilda, born Oct 2010, is 10 years old and is very sweet and gentle.  She entered ICC's care in November 2016 at the age of 6, and we have some past care history we can share with interested families. Matilda does not have an adoption file currently, but we have been given permission to advocate for her adoption.  Her Welfare Center will create an adoption file if an adoptive family steps forward.

Matilda has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy.  She has low muscle tone and development delays. Her medical conditions affect her ability to initiate and control movement, and she has a tremor in her right hand that is present throughout the day.  Matilda receives therapy sessions 5 times per week where her goals are to strengthen her core, improve her balance and walking.  She is now walking with support and practicing sitting to standing positions!

Matilda uses a manual wheelchair to mobilize.  She likes to explore her home and community with the assistance of her carer to propel her chair.  She enjoys standing if provided with something to hold onto.  She also likes to sit on a stool or chair throughout the day to play with friends or watch TV.

Matilda is able to use sounds, facial expressions and emotions to communicate her needs to her carers.  Her verbal skills are delayed for her age, and she is happy to follow her carers lead in what to wear or games to play.

Matilda loves to spend time with others, including both adults and children.  She enjoys watching TV, playing games and listening to music.  She is a beautiful, peaceful and quiet girl.  She is loved by all who meet and know her!  She has a gentle nature and loves to giggle or laugh.  We have seen her grow emotionally while under our care, and her anxiety has lessened. She is very observant and prefers to watch her peers than engage with toys in the playroom.  Matilda is such a joy to be around, and always looks very pretty!
