Precious

Precious is a fun, mischievous and playful 10 year old girl (born May 2010).  Precious does not have an adoption file completed, but her Welfare Center has given us permission to advocate for her adoption.  The Welfare Center will create an adoption file once an adoptive family steps forward.

Precious has a diagnosis of Epilepsy and Intellectual Delay.  She may be on the Autistic Spectrum, but this has never been formally diagnosed.  She entered the Welfare Center as an infant and came to ICC in September 2013.  Precious can walk, and enjoys holding a carer's hand when exploring new environments and walking between rooms.  Precious is non-verbal, but communicates her emotions and needs through various sounds which her carers have become to recognize.  She likes to squeal and laugh when she is happy!

Precious has learned self-care skills like feeding herself, and she enjoys a wide variety of foods.  She is also able to dress herself.  Precious attends education classes during the week within the ICC project.  She can understand short and simple instructions, but does have some trouble participating in a classroom environment.  She needs assistance to follow instructions and to engage in learning and play activities.  Despite these challenges, she enjoys attending class and spending time with her peers.

Precious is a playful and inquisitive girl, and she brings much joy to all in her group home.  She loves one-to-one attention and likes to seek out hugs from people whom she is familiar with.  She likes seeking out various textures and toys in her environment.  She can be sensitive to noisy or crowded areas, and will stay close to her carers in these situations.  The comfort and care of her carer helps her to stay calm or regulate.

Please contact Erin Schmidt at Erin.Schmidt@chinaconcern.org if you are interested in adopting Precious.  We can help direct you on next steps.
